Tottenham Hotspur moved into fifth place in the Premier League after clinching all three points in a dramatic encounter on Sunday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho’s side defeated Aston Villa 3-2 in a game which saw an own goal, a missed penalty and an injury-time winner with Heung-min Son the focal point of everything.
The South Korean netted the rebound from the spot before racing clear in the 94th minute to secure the victory.
There was even a return for Ben Davies who had been missing for every single game bar Mourinho’s first in charge, and this shows just how much faith there is in the left-back.
The Welshman has been absent for 18 matches but upon his return from an ankle injury, he was thrown straight into the deep end and played for the full 90 minutes.
He’s often had to battle Danny Rose for one role in the side, and with the 29-year-old now out on loan to Newcastle United, the door is fully open for him to become the number one choice.
Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?
Rose was a key figure under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, even despite murmurs of a rift in the past. It was the Englishman who organised a team meal for the under-fire manager back in October, which says a lot.
He was often the go-to for the Argentine when they wanted to play attacking and expansive football as Rose had the pace to cause trouble in his prime, whilst Davies was a little more reserved and solid defensively.
This was seen in their Champions League run to the final where Pochettino opted for the older of the two – Rose – in key matches, such as in the quarter-finals against Ajax and the final against Liverpool.

The numbers may say that Davies has played 16 more matches than Rose under the former boss, but if asked about who has made the bigger impact, then it’ll be the latter’s name on your lips.
But now, the former Swansea City man, who is rated at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, has a clear run to be the reliable piece of Jose’s defensive puzzle in north London.
And in other news, these Spurs fans long for JANSSEN after witnessing the display of this £81m-rated star…
