Norway winger Morten Gamst Pedersen has pledged his future to Blackburn Rovers by signing a new four-year contract to keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2014.
The 28-year-old's current deal with Rovers was due to run out this summer and it had been feared that he would opt to move on, having been linked with a number of clubs across Europe.
However, Pedersen has now decided to stay put, having been with Rovers since the summer of 2004, scoring 38 goals in 240 appearances.
Chairman John Williams told the club's official website:"I'm delighted that Morten has signed a new four-year contract.
"What appeared to be a lengthy negotiation was always carried out in a positive constructive manner, with Morten making it clear that he wanted to stay.
"Sam Allardyce is currently on holiday but he'll be delighted, he made this, together with finding a striker, our summer priority.
"He regards Morten as a key member of the squad and his future at Ewood Park is now secure."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
