da cassino: It remains to be seen how 2016/17 will be remembered at Anfield. Whilst Jurgen Klopp’s debut campaign produced two cup finals, the ultimate barometer of success this time around is whether his Liverpool side finish in the top four and obtain the resulting Champions League qualification. With eight games to go, that ambition still hangs delicately in the balance.
da bet esporte: Nonetheless, in terms of entertainment, few sides have matched Liverpool’s value in the Premier League this term. They’ve netted the most times of any team in the division and produced some stunning performances in the first half of the campaign, although 2017 has been considerably more underwhelming thus far.
In addition to some fantastic collective showings, Liverpool’s cast have produced equally impressive individual performances this term. With that in mind, we asked Reds fans earlier this week to vote for who should win this year’s Player of the Season award. Here’s a rundown of the top three.
3. Adam Lallana
Adam Lallana’s been like a man reborn since a string of impressive performances at EURO 2016 last summer.
Slightly reinvented in a deeper role, the England international has bagged more goals and assists, seven apiece, than he managed in the Premier League last season, whilst his fluid movement and ability to turn defence into attack with a single pass has been crucial to the Reds’ rip-roaring forward play. He’s now one of the first names on the team-sheet and rather tellingly, Liverpool’s win-rate drops by 7% when he’s not in the starting XI.
2. Philippe Coutinho
Were it not for a few months of disappointing form during the middle stage of the season, arguably when Liverpool needed him most, Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool’s top earner on £200k per week – would probably have topped our poll.
Nonetheless, the Brazilian maestro has produced moments of magic throughout the campaign, including a stunning solo goal against Everton in the Merseyside Derby, and ranks third and second throughout Liverpool’s Premier League squad for goals and assists respectively, playing a hand in 14 goals in total. Now aged 24, Coutinho appears to be edging into his peak years.
1. Sadio Mane
No prizes for guessing this one. Liverpool are yet to win a Premier League fixture without Sadio Mane starting this season, which tells all about the impact he’s had since arriving from Southampton last summer.
He’s the Reds’ top scorer with 13 goals but the scintillating pace and penetration the Senegal international has offered in attack has been arguably more important, adding an intrinsic dynamic in Jurgen Klopp’s boys scoring the most goals of any Premier League side. Not only a leading candidate for Liverpool’s Player of the Season, but also the Premier League’s signing of the season.
