da leao: In the ever changing world of modern day football speculation, last season saw Arsenal Football Club constantly linked to Julian Draxler in an audacious move to bring the highly valued German to the Premier League. Sports papers across the capital were consistently filled with such stories – even though very few concrete movements were seemingly being made on either side of the table.
da roleta: With the Gunners vast contingency of gifted midfielders largely proving successful towards the tail end of 2014/15 however – and Draxler himself seeing much of his game time this year limited by a string of injuries and a subsequent drop in form – fresh reports linking the 21-year-old Schalke star with a move to the Emirates have been a far shot less frequent so far this campaign.
As no good transfer rumour ever truly goes away though, the footballing community were hardly left surprised this month when new stories surrounding Arsenal and the young German international began to resurface once more.
So, in light of what could be Arsene Wenger’s final push for the Premier League title throughout the up-coming season, will we soon see the young attacker turning out at the Emirates in the not too distant future, or is Julian Draxler’s proposed move to Arsenal still somewhat dead in the water?
Well as long as the Bundesliga favourite manages to maintain his lofty reputation in German football across the next few years, it seems unlikely that the Gunners will ever drop their reported interest in the star. He simply presents a certain proposition that very few players can offer their respective managers at his age.
Along with the likes of Memphis Depay, Paulo Dybala, Paul Pogba, and German international teammate Mario Götze – Schalke’s fiery no. 10 is likely to become one of the main-stay contributors to the future game. When the current crop of world renown stars, figure-headed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, finally make way come the end of their careers, it will be players like Julian Draxler that inevitably step up to the plate and carry on where today’s top talents have left off.

With that in mind, the Veltins-Arena faithful have witnessed their golden boy perform a whole myriad a tricks since he first made his debut in the German top-flight. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder not only displays some real elegance when given space out on the pitch, but he can also switch things up at the drop of a hat – transforming from a calm passer of the ball in the middle of the park one minute, to a quick-footed front-man with a keen eye for goal the next.
Draxler certainly has it in his locker to score the odd screamer here and there as well – which only heightens his dangerous level of threat in the final third. Arsenal would therefore be mad to retract their interest in the player so abruptly.
However, because someone of Julian Draxler’s talents and high profile nature obviously hasn’t gone unnoticed throughout the rest of European football recently, the Schalke man is likely to set any potential suitors back a great deal – perhaps even to the tune of a cool £30 million. Even after what has admittedly been a campaign to forget for the attacking midfielder this season, there will still be a vast amount of interest in the star should an exit from his current employers emerge this summer.
It has nonetheless began to feel unlikely that the Emirates will turn out to be Draxler’s next destination. Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all supposedly hold a reported interest in the no. 10 – and with the level of financial power at such clubs somewhat outmuscling the Gunners in the transfer department – Arsene Wenger may be forced into turning his attention to another of Europe’s, perhaps lesser known, talents in the run up to next season.
With a reported price tag of £30 million still hanging over Julian Draxler head at the moment then – such a potentially dramatic deal simply remains doubtful for Wenger and his loyal Emirates faithful at this current stage.
As Arsenal have successfully managed to source at least one marquee summer signing in the past few windows however, perhaps it remains too early a time to write off this particular transfer rumour just yet…
