da dobrowin: As reported by The Daily Mail, former Rangers player and manager Stuart McCall reckons Graeme Murty’s side have a chance of igniting a real title race after the good work the former U20s coach has done since taking charge.
What’s the story?
da bet7k: Six points behind Celtic, the Light Blues have an excellent chance of cutting that deficit further when they two sides meet next week, pending the Hoops postponed match with Dundee being rescheduled.
McCall has paid tribute to the way Murty has turned around Rangers’ fortunes and reckons they’re in their best shapes for years.
As quoted by The Daily Mail, the former Scotland international said:
There’s no question Rangers go into the game in the strongest position they’ve been. They have a chance. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but they’ve put themselves in a position where they will be going into an Old Firm game for the first time in a long time with a bit of belief and a bit of confidence.
The recruitment in January was spot on and really gave Rangers a chance to improve. The next challenge was to get them in a shape and get the best out of them and by the look of it that’s what Graeme seems to be doing. So you can judge him on what he has done and the new signings have improved the squad.
You look at the bench at Perth on Tuesday night and they had Miller, Alves, Holt and Cummings – and they’ve got Wallace, Dorrans, McCrorie and Jack to come back. That’s as strong as Rangers have been for a long, long time.
Can they possibly compete with Celtic heading into the final nine games of the season?

Do they have a shot?
Logic would dictate that the Hoops remain the overwhelming favourites to retain their Scottish Premiership crown but McCall is right to assert this is the closest they’ve been run in recent years.
A defeat at Ibrox would make things interesting but it’s important to note that they are undefeated against Rangers since Brendan Rodgers arrived in Glasgow.
Regardless though, fans have every right to be optimistic about the direction they’re heading in under Murty. With a solid core squad and some exciting attacking talent reaching top form, supporters know that Celtic aren’t as far away as people have suggested.
There’s also a Scottish Cup up for grabs and that’s anyone’s trophy right now. Is this the season they finally win some major silverware?
