da realbet: It’s nearly here – Zlatan Ibrahimovic is close to coming to the Premier League to join Manchester United. So whilst the entirety of Manchester, and most of England, are in raptures as the Swede’s arrival draws ever closer, there are some Ibra-sceptics out there who question whether or not he can still do a job at this level.
da betsson: He was on fire in France with Paris Saint-Germain last year and there is seemingly no reason why he can’t do it again at Old Trafford if he does indeed join. But what could go wrong? With Jose Mourinho now at the helm, it’s going to be a big season for Man United and many are praying for progression and the chance to win trophies again.
So with this in mind, here’s FIVE reasons why Zlatan to Old Trafford may not work out as well as some people seem to think…
Age
At 34, is Zlatan be up to the dogged style of the Premier League? Renowned for its toughness compared to some of the other European leagues ‘Ibra’ has played in throughout his career, the pace in the Prem is electrifying, and may be beyond an ageing star.
He was in top form for PSG last season and whilst it’s presumed this form will naturally translate from France to England, cold away trips to Stoke on a Tuesday night may take some getting used to.
Anthony Martial
We saw it at the end of the 2015/16 campaign – Anthony Martial is the leading man at Manchester United. The former Monaco ace was firing in the goals towards the end of the season last year and his form could make it difficult for Zlatan to grab the headlines, or even get in the side. It’s unclear how Mourinho will set up his side for the new season, but could the youngster and the Swede work out? Only time will tell….
When the going gets tough
We’ve seen it wherever he’s been in his career but our Zlatan does have a brash, outspoken attitude. If things aren’t going as well as they should be, expect Sweden’s top goalscorer to have a few words to say.
Whether this could upset the balance in the dressing room or not we’ll have to see, but next season isn’t the time for individuals. Man United’s staff and players need to come together to give the fans what they want to see.

Expectation
The levels of expectation from supporters are going to be through the roof. Zlatan is one of the biggest names in world football and the Old Trafford faithful will be expectant from the very beginning. A couple of dry performances may see the crowd get on his back, which may turn the move into a disaster.

Falcao an omen?
One of United’s most notable recent ‘marquee’ signings was Radamel Falcao, and remember how that went down? A decent option in the French League, he struggled to adapt to English football in every way possible, and departed with a wiper. Could we be set to see that in Zlatan?
