da betsul： Arsenal’s hope for silverware in Arsene Wenger’s last season at the club ended on Thursday night after they were dumped out of the UEFA Europa League by Atletico Madrid.
da betcris： With the semi-final tie level at 1-1 heading into last night’s action, the Gunners had been hopeful of scoring a crucial away goal and competing to go through, but old foe Diego Costa scored to put the game beyond Wenger’s side.
It was obviously a hugely disappointing result for all concerned at the club, with not only silverware off the table but also qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League too.
Fans were frustrated with the performance but did hand out pass marks to one or two players, including midfielder Granit Xhaka.
Xhaka often appears to be the scapegoat for the Gunners’ problems but generally performed well in the two legs vs Atletico, something supporters were quick to take notice of in the wake of the defeat in Spain.
