Despite the Denmark international’s contract at St Mary’s being due to run out next summer, there has clearly been no progress in discussions that would see him commit his future to the south coast outfit.
Indeed, Football Insider reported at the weekend that the 24-year-old has knocked back the club’s bid to tie him down to a new deal, with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton among the clubs who have been linked with the former Bayern Munich man.
It was business as usual for the skipper as he posted a picture of him in training on Tuesday however, along with the caption “Positivity. Persistence. Dedication. Let’s go”.
No Southampton supporter could ever question Hojbjerg’s mentality and commitment to the cause when you watch his style of play on the pitch, and they will be hoping that doesn’t change in the remaining months of the campaign if a summer exit is on the cards.
