An update on Liverpool’s failed approach for Timo Werner has come to light as they shift their focus onto other summer targets.
According to a claim from Jan Aage Fjortoft (relayed via @AnfieldEdition), Jurgen Klopp instructed the club to buy the former RB Leipzig man but the Liverpool board and Fenway Sports Group turned down his request.
In a shock twist of events, Werner put pen to paper for Premier League rivals Chelsea amid the speculation over a potential Anfield move.
The Reds are yet to make a summer signing but are heavily linked to Bayern Munich midfield Thiago Alcantara.
Loads of Liverpool fans have flocked to the update to share their thoughts on this revelation. One Kopite is worried about form with FSG seemingly not willing to spend big, they have predicted the Reds will have to wait ‘another 30 years’ for their next Premier League title.
