da brwin: France Football has announced the 30-man shortlist for the 2017 Ballon d’Or, and some of the nominees have raised eyebrows.
da bet sport: The prestigious award has gone back and forth between Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid hero Cristiano Ronaldo over the past few years.
Ronaldo, who spent six years playing for Manchester United before moving to the Bernabeu in 2009, is the current holder of the honour having picked up his fourth last year.
Messi has won the gong on five occasions and is likely to be in the final three nominees alongside Ronaldo later in the year.
Via Twitter, France Football has been revealing the nominees either individually or in groups, and among them has been Chelsea star N’Golo Kante, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
As well as that trio, Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho, who was open to a move to Barcelona in the summer, has made the cut.
Some rival football fans have questioned the nomination, suggesting that the Brazilian is not good enough to be considered.
