da bet7: The EFL have finally come to a decision over how they will deal with Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds and the ‘Spygate’ controversy and, amid fears that they would throw the book at the Midlands outfit, the £200,000 fine which they have been dealt will surely come as a huge relief.
Many surely felt that a points deduction was on the cards after Bielsa admitted to sending a member of staff to each of his side’s opponents’ training ground to gather information prior to games, having been caught doing so by Derby in January.
Along with the pretty manageable fine, the Elland Road outfit have also been handed a formal reprimand from the EFL, which will carry a rule that forbids clubs from going to another’s training ground within 72 hours before a game unless they are invited to do so.

While there is no law against conducting such investigation into your opponents’ tactics, the EFL have found that the Whites have breached rules regarding treating teams with “good faith” and that their doing so “fell significantly short of the standards expected” and it “must not be repeated”.
The decision has been met with mixed reaction on social media, with some Leeds fans of the belief that any punishment is ridiculous considering there were no specific rules broken, while others are simply glad the saga is over and that their promotion push can continue without the controversy looming over them…
